"I am running for re-election to the Missouri House of Representatives because I believe that the purpose of government is to create better opportunities for all of its citizens. We’re fortunate to live in Lee’s Summit; a vibrant city and a great place to live.  I want to make sure that the Missouri government is working for our citizens and our community."
ISSUES
PROTECT OUR STRONG PUBLIC EDUCATION

I will work to ensure our schools are fully funded and to improve opportunities for our children so they may continue to have access to a world-class education. As the husband and son of former public school teachers, I understand how important and difficult that job is, and I will continue to push for better salaries for our educators.
OPPOSE THE LANDFILL

I will continue to fight to keep the proposed landfill from opening on the edge of Lee's Summit.  I co-sponsored bills, spoke out against the development and worked closely with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to oppose the proposal.  This landfill would put the health of thousands of residents and school kids at risk, would devastate property values, and would end residential and commercial growth in southern Lee's Summit. I will continue to fight to eliminate this threat.
DEFEND PUBLIC SAFETY

Public safety is essential to our community, and I have supported our first responders, and pushed back against efforts to defund our emergency services. I advocated for and got money inserted into the state budget to fund the new Highway Patrol headquarters building, which will ensure that the Patrol will stay in Lee's Summit for the foreseeable future.
PROTECT TAXPAYERS

I have been working for solutions to Jackson County's unfair reassessment process and to look for ways to help seniors stay in their homes. I filed a bill to cap reassessments on residences and voted to make the county assessor an elected position.  I filed a bill to  improve the current Missouri Senior Property Tax Credit and voted for the property tax freeze for seniors and the elimination of state taxes on Social Security income.  But our essential state services need funding, so I have fought against proposals like eliminating the corporate income tax, which would shift the taxation burden back onto middle income taxpayers.
